George Miller is looking for a younger actress to portray the heroine of ‘Road Fury’ in a story set before her showdown against Immortan Joe.
George Miller, director of the Mad Max franchise, confirmed last May that the Furiosa-focused prequel kept going. We met the character in Fury on the Road and it was Charlize Theron who played the part. However, in this new installment set before the events of the film starring Tom Hardy, the actress will not repeat as the heroine who faced Immortan Joe ( Hugh Keays-Byrne ). Instead, Miller will sign a younger interpreter. Now, Theron has spoken about this project and has recognized that it breaks his heart not to get into Furiosa again.
“It’s hard to digest,” the actress begins on THR. “Listens. I totally respect George, much more after making this movie with him. He is a teacher and I only wish him the best. Yes. It breaks my heart a little. That’s for sure. I really love that character and I am so grateful to be a part of his creation. It will always be someone I think about and think about with affection. Obviously, I would love to see how that story continues and if he feels he has to go down that path, then I trust him, ”he adds.
At the moment, Miller has not officially announced the actress who will play this young version of Furiosa. Some rumors claim that Anya Taylor-Joy and Jodie Comer are some of the favorites for the role. On the other hand, the director also commented a few months ago that for a time he thought that it was Theron herself who would play her again using special effects to rejuvenate her. ” For a long time, I thought we could use CGI to rejuvenate Theron, but I think we are not ready for it yet. Despite the valiant attempts at The Irishman, I think it is still a strange space, “said the director, referring to the Martin Scorsese film in which Robert De Niro was rejuvenated through special effects.
While Miller continues working on this long-awaited project, Theron premieres on July 10 The Old Guard on Netflix. The actress plays Andy, an immortal centuries-old warrior who leads a team with her same gift. KiKi Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Marwan Kenzari are also part of the cast for the film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. On these lines, do not miss the trailer.
